DIY
Compost Bin: If you have a small terrace or backyard garden
and you want to skip harmful chemical fertilizers for plants, try making this
DIY compost bin. It is very simple and kids will have fun making it.
Materials
you need:
- One bucket
- Fruits and vegetables peels and scraps
- Used tea leaves
- Coffee grounds
- Loose soil
- Water
- Drilling machine
How
to do:
- Make holes on the bottom and sides of the bucket.
- Put vegetable peels, coffee grounds, and used tea
leaves in layers.
- Add the loose soil on top.
- Sprinkle some water and cover the bucket with a
lid.
- Swirl around the pile now and then and let it sit
for 4 weeks. Your compost will be ready by then.
Birdhouse

art teachers encourage their students to recycle their shoebox and make a
birdhouse.
Materials
you need:
- A shoebox
- Tape
- String threads
- Scissors
How
to do:
- Make a 3-inch diameter hole in the middle of the
shoebox.
- Fill the hole with some grass and small rocks so
that it looks like a nest.
- Tape the edges of the box to make sure they are
kept in place.
- Now attach a string with the shoebox so that you
can hang it wherever you like.

Materials
you need:
- An airtight container
- A couple of fruit peels
- Brown sugar or jaggery powder
How
to do:
- Put some fruit peels in an airtight container.
- Add the brown sugar or jaggery to it and let the
mixture sit for a few days.
- Wait until it ferments.
- Don’t forget to loosen the lid and get the gas
out every alternate day.
- After almost one week remove the mix and filter
the liquid. This liquid can be used to clean your house, utensils, or any
other surface.

t-shirts.
Materials
you need:
- An old t-shirt
- Scissors
How
to do:
- Cut off the neckline and the sleeves of the
t-shirt.
- Spread out the t-shirt and turn it inside out.
- Cut the hemline and make fringes.
- Pick opposite side fringes and tie them
all.
- Turn the t-shirt outside in and your bag is
ready.
